Andreas Mildner
Andreas Mildner is certainly one of the most interesting harpists of his generation. His "technical brilliance" and his "unbelievably aesthetic playing with timbres" continue to delight the press and audiences.
In 2019, he gave up his position as principal harpist of the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne to devote himself entirely to his professorship at the University of Music in Würzburg and his extensive solo activities. With his extraordinary and varied repertoire, Andreas Mildner is much in demand as a soloist at home and abroad. He made his solo debut at the age of 17 with the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Prague. Since then, he has been regularly invited by various renowned orchestras. He has recently performed as a soloist with the WDR and SWR symphony orchestras and the Orchestra della Svizzera Italiana, giving the world premiere of harp concertos written for him by Mark Andre and Andreas Dohmen.
In addition to solo and orchestral playing, he devotes himself extensively to chamber music. For years he has played numerous concerts with tuba player Andreas Martin Hofmeir and regularly performs with oboist and conductor Heinz Holliger.
As a soloist and chamber musician, he can be heard in Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie, Cologne's Philharmonie, Leipzig's Gewandhaus and Munich's Residenz, among others. Andreas Mildner has won prizes and awards at various competitions. In addition to his successes at the German University Competition and the German Music Competition, he won first prize and two special prizes at the "6th International Harp Contest Arpista Ludovico" in Madrid in 2009 and was subsequently awarded the "Kulturpreis Bayern". In 2012, he received the "Bayerischer Kunstförderpreis". He has also received scholarships from the Jürgen Ponto Foundation, the German Foundation for Musical Life, the German National Academic Foundation and the German Music Council.
Andreas Mildner is a recurring guest at numerous music festivals (Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele, Schleswig Holstein Musikfestival, Festival Mitte Europa, World Harp Congress, Lucerne Festival, International Harp Festival Rio de Janeiro etc.). His concerts are regularly recorded by various radio stations.
