Ge Chang (21)

Ge Chang is a 21‑year‑old violist. She is currently pursuing her studies with Prof. Diyang Mei at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin. She previously studied at the Middle School of the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing under the guidance of Prof. Zhen Su.

She has participated in masterclasses with renowned violists, including Michael Kugel, Naoko Shimizu, Pierre‑Henri Xuereb, and the celebrated Nobuko Imai. She has also attended masterclasses with Hariolf Schlichtig, Nils Mönkemeyer, and Timothy Ridout, where she was praised for her musicality and performance.

In addition to her masterclass experiences, Chang has collaborated with esteemed musicians such as Prof. Claudio Bohórquez, Prof. Stephan Picard, Prof. Ulf Wallin, and Janet Sung, further deepening her artistry through these engagements. She also participated in the Stretton Excellence Mentorship Program (Stretton xMP) in Düsseldorf, where she continued to refine her craft under the guidance of distinguished soloists and orchestral mentors.

In June 2020, she successfully advanced in the International Cecil Aronowitz Viola Competition in the United Kingdom. In November 2021, she won the first prize in the Rocky Mountain Concerto Competition (Fall Season). Most recently, in October 2024, she reached the semifinals of the prestigious Max Rostal Competition. In 2025, she was selected as a participant in the Concours de Genève – International Music Competition.
