Cristina Cordero (23)
Born in 1998, Spanish violist Cristina Cordero is currently pursuing her Masters with Nobuko Imai and Wenting Kang at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, Madrid. Previously, she completed her Bachelors degree studying with Diemut Poppen in the same university and with Hariolf Schlichtig at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich. Alongside her main studies she has also taken part in masterclasses with Gerard Caussé, Lars Anders Tomter, Atar Arad, Nils Mönkemeyer and Antoine Tamestit, among others.
Cristina has been awarded in competitions such as El Primer Palau (1st prize and Juventudes Musicales de España Award), International Chamber Music Competition Gerhard Vogt (1st Prize), VI Cidade Vigo National Viola Competition (1st prize), I Spanish Viola National Association Competition (1st prize), II OFMAN International Musical Performance String Competition (2nd prize), Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung and Juventudes Musicales de Madrid (Scholarship Awards).
She has performed as a soloist with orchestras, such as Orquesta Filarmónica de Castilla La Mancha, Orquesta de Cámara Andrés Segovia, and Orquesta Freixenet, and in some of the most important halls in her homeland such as Teatro Real, Palau de la Música Catalana, Auditorio Príncipe Felipe and Auditorio Nacional.
