Tabea_Ockert (22)

Tabea Ockert, born in Leipzig in 2002, began her musical training at the age of five with Eva-Maria Mehling, studying violin. For several years, she was supported by the Free State of Saxony's program for gifted children. Playing in various orchestras awakened her interest in the viola with its dark, warm sound.

Tabea then switched to the viola in 2016, joining Katrin Hallmann's class. Just three years later, she performed as a soloist with the LandStreichern Sachsen. Tabea was able to further her musical education in August 2019 when she was accepted into the Musikgymnasium Schloss Belvedere in Weimar and began studying with Neasa Ní Bhriain.

There she also discovered her passion for chamber music. As a member of the Castello Quartet, she won the chamber music prize in the internal competition of the Belvedere Music High School in 2021.

Starting in October 2022, Tabea will study for two years at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg with Thomas Riebl. In October 2024, Tabea transferred to the class of German Tcakulov.

She received important inspiration from master classes with Hariolf Schlichtig, Pauline Sachse, Lukas Hagen, and Roland Glassl, as well as at the International Musicians Seminar Prussia Cove.
Tabea received the Handel-Mozart Youth Scholarship in 2019 and is also a scholarship holder of the International Music Academy Liechtenstein. Tabea regularly plays as a substitute with the Camerata Salzburg.
