Tamara Durand (21)

Tamara Durand is a 21 year-old violist.
She began playing the viola at the age of 3 in her home town in the south of France.

At the age of 16, she went to study at the Conservatoire Royal de Liège, in Belgium, in Pierre Henri Xuereb's class. She was then accepted at the Conservatoire National de Paris in 2022, before going on an Erasmus course at the Hochschule of Frankfurt in 2023. She passed the entrance exam in June 2024, and became a regular student in Anna Krimm's class.
She has also started to study piano and singing thanks to the programmes on offer.

Since 2020, Tamara has been playing in a duo with Belgian pianist Zacharie Tavier, with whom she has taken part in chamber music competitions and recorded her first album.
At the same time, she has secured a contract with the Frankfurt Opera as a 50% violist for the 2024-2025 season.
She will continue her studies in the autumn of 2025 in the class of Tabea Zimmermann.
