Henrik Wiese
The flautist Henrik Wiese studied with Ingrid Koch-Dörnbrak and Paul Meisen. He has won prizes at the German Music Competition (1995), the international competitions in Kobe/Japan (1997), Odense/Denmark (1998) and the ARD Competition in Munich (2000).
From 1995 to 2006 he was solo flutist at the Bavarian State Opera. Since 2006 Henrik Wiese has been principal flute in the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Under the baton of Herbert Blomstedt, Christoph von Dóhnanyi, Manfred Honeck, Mariss Jansons and many others, Henrik Wiese has played solo concerts with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Rundfunk-Sinfonie-Orchester Berlin and the NDR-Elphilharmonie.
His wide-ranging artistic activities, particularly in the field of chamber music, are documented by several CD recordings.
Henrik Wiese has taught at the Mozarteum Salzburg and at several German music academies, including Hamburg, Leipzig and Bremen, and has been appointed to professorships.
He is active as an editor for renowned publishers such as Breitkopf & Härtel and Universal Edition. His collection of audition pieces The Piccolo & Alto Flute Audition, published by Universal Edition, was awarded the German Music Edition Prize 2021/2022 (“Best Edition”). He has also created a large number of arrangements. His exercise book "Vom Klang zum Ausdruck" will be published by Zimmermann-Verlag in fall 2024.
Henrik Wiese is a synaesthete, i.e. he hears colors. This rare gift of nature is an important source of inspiration for him.
